... to replace my '03, or maybe just to flip. It's black and has less miles than my '03 (which itself just has over 100k miles).

I have a good price on it, but the owner says it has the dreaded first gear transmission flare. I can use this as a good bargaining chip to lower the price another $1000 easily, and worst case scenario I spend $500 for a new TCM and pop it in. Best case a simple cleaning of the MAF or a new fuel filter fixes it, or I find a TCM from a junkyard and pop that in.

What are the differences between 01's and 03's? Aside from a few cosmetic things (e.g. the grille) they should be identical, correct?

isnt the 01 a 3.3 opposed to the 3.5?

No 2001 was the first year of the VQ35 3.5 liter engine. In regards to what Innovazn is thinking about doing. Stepping down to a 2001 has a few minor differences but nothing major. I say go for its simply for the fewer miles.

I'd probably flip it if it were me, miles don't really mean much if you take care of your ride, replace things when they need replacing, yada yada yada. My dad's 94 Hardbody just hit 300K a few weeks ago, its got some things that need to be done to it to make it look new, but mechanically he's(really I) has taken good care if it and always made sure when things need replacing they get done. if your truck has no major issue, why take on a new vehicle that you may not have a complete knowledge of its history. I'd say if you can get it at a good deal, and are positive you can flip it, then do so. Or get someone you know that needs a good vehicle to buy it. but honestly, I'd keep the 03.
