So... the whole car is black, with a beige headliner and a pillars... Ive been toying with the idea of changing them to black.

The "cooler" way to do it is a "wrap" where they take material (usually some sort of suede) and wrap the headliner in it, adhere it, and put it back on..

I like the feel of the roof though, and as always, im the bargain shopper...

While looking thru some scion forums for a friend i came across a large following of them that have changed their headliner... with DYE!

Duplicolor makes the product...

Thoughts?

doing the headliner in suede is a lot sweeter then dyeing the roof, i feel that if you were to dye the roof it might come out uneven.

wrapping it is somewhat expensive though... im not paying for it.

If its being dyed black... i think itd be pretty hard to get it uneven...

and ill be driving without a headliner while it dries for a week lol

I would wrap it in suede. I know of someone here in the metro detroit area that does this sorta work. All I have to do is buy the fabric from a fabric shop, take it to him and he'll chage me about $150-$200 to wrap it. I've been thinking about doing this as well but I might go with the same color grey that I have on my 2 tone seat rather than black.

well as long as it doesnt come out looking tie dyed then good times, hopefully the color matches the interior well, i agree with the whole process though, the headliner and A pillars really do need to be black to match.

$200+ 10 sq feet of suede... and no one guarantees their work.. if it sags.. too bad... not worth it imo

No one guarantees their work? The place you're talking about, is it a custom upholstery shop or is it some local person that does this type of work? Because this guy I may deal with works at an upholstery shop and gaurantees everything, I'm trying not to spend so much on the car at once but the thought of doing this is in the back of my mind.

ive seen so many people PAINT the headliners making it look like **** after a week or two. Dying it is definetly a cheaper and easier method, and it would work for the sun visor too, i really cant see how you can rewrap the sun visors (atleast not easy or cheap)

OR if ur a baller, try to get a full carbon fibre redo/wrap looked hella sick in a integra lol

I feel that most times when people do it, they dont do it properly, and that leads to the bad results..

If i bring it to an upholsterer, its gonna cost several hundo... i was looking for more of a $50 mod, and i like the texture of the material a lot, its just the color i dont like.

you guys have it rough on prices.. I had my headliner wrapped in just a regular cloth in my Z28 to charcoal. Cost me 80 bucks including the sun visors, and that was at a local repair shop. You might want to check around some more... If not dying it and painting the pillars would be a cheap nice way out. Good luck with whichever path you take!

Also, you'll be VERY surprised how much that darkens the interior up.. almost cave like :P

I am defenetly getting my headliner re wrapped in Black. Havent decided on material yet. I will do the headliner and a/pillars in black and the light housing and all the other little plastic parts in winter frost. Should look really good after I do the dash trim and door trim in winter frost.
