I put my new vlsd in my car like a month ago, and after a couple times of getting her nice and squirley, my axle on the passenger side started making a popping noise. It like rattles/pops, only under acceleration, and the popping get faster the harder I push on the gas. Think I just screwed up the axle and need a new one? Thats the only thing I can think it would be!

Grab one from a junkyard, shouldnt be too expensive. how exactly do you think yoiu screwed the axle up? when i did my 300z e-brake swap, i had the rear end apart, and pulled the axles in some ways I thought they were going to break them, but so far so good.

Thats the thing, I didn't do anything to the axle that would mess it up. Thats why I am kind of hesitant to buy another one. I could get one free, courtesy of advanced auto parts (hehe), but if that isn't the problem then I have no idea what could be. Its not from the diff itself, because the noise ONLY comes from the passenger side rear wheel, and ONLY under acceleration. When I'm spinning them I dont hear anything abnormal either.

cv joints? I dunno, my friend's integra did that and it was the CV joints... and since the 240 has joints in the rear axles, maybe they are bad??? guessing

yes, you jacked up one of your cv joints on your axle. i did the same thing on my 92 and it started popping when i accelerated real hard and when i made left turns. after a while, i ended up snaping the cv joint off of the axle, so make sure you dont make my mistake and go get one from a junk yard soon.

yeah they are usually pretty stout and long lasting so I'd say a junkyard part would be ok for that one. Might want to check to see how much autozone wants for a rebuilt one though, sometimes its pretty cheap.

Thanks guys, I will go to Advanced and check prices. I have a hookup there anyway so I'm sure it'll be cheap or free, lol. Thanks again.
