Think about getting a 240sx

Hi. I'm new here. I was thinking about getting a 1990 240sx fastback 5 speed with 139,000 miles. It is in pretty good shape and costs $1300. The only bad thing is that I live in Iowa and the 240 is rwd. Plus I'm not very good with 5 speeds(I didn't kill the 240 while test driving it luckily). Is the 240 ok in snow and is it pretty easy to learn how to drive a 5 speed? I was also wondering if there are anything specific to look for when buying a 240 (meaning things that might be going bad). Any help would be greatly appreciated. THanks.

Learning to drive a 5 speed is easy and me personally I would rather have a 5 speed than an automatic.

I am unable to tell you any info on the whole snow question because I really don't know haven't seen snow since 1989 here in So. GA

Thanks metalsyth, it seems that most people on this board prefer 5 speeds. Now, if I can just find out from anybody how the 240 handles the snow. We just got 4 inches of snow last night.

If you have good tires, and know how to drive in the snow it should be no problem. Although it might take some time to get used to with a rwd in the snow.

took me like three days learn how to not kill the manual... after that its so much fun to drive

also, my family had rwd vehicles in PA in 1997 when all the blizzards hit. answer: studded snow tires! (and maybe even sandbags)

As soon as the weather clears up here, we had 10 more inches of snow, I'm going to take it for another test drive, and make sure that there is nothing wrong with it. My dad wants me to try to do some more difficult driving with it, like starting on a hill.

i live north of syracuse,and we get a lot of snow usaully 6 feet. The 240 is fun in the snow, so if u ever want to learn to do a controlled slide go to a snow covered parking lot and rip. Just watch out for ground clearence because it can get hung up easy in driveways and stuff if they r not cleared out. 5 speed helps 2 control wheelspin a lot. If u have some driving skill its easilly driveable in the winter.
