Why did it take eight years? First, Linn, the blonde, basically quit the band in the late 90s after a crazy fan attacked her and her sister in their home with a knife.

After that she was like "f*** this I'm done."
They carried on through 2002 as a trio with Linn's rare appearance on tours, usually in the background playing keyboard.

They wrote new material as a threesome but never released it, except for one single in 2009, which was a remake of a song they wrote and recorded in 1993:

The record company wanted to add a new girl to the group, but Jenny wasn't having it. Jenny's voice was never quite as good as Linn's, and the Ace of Base sound really required two female vocalists.

So Jenny got mad and didn't show up to a lot of recording sessions. Finally, Ulf and Jonas, the two guys from the group, replaced her with two new girls, Clara Hagman and Julia Williamson.
Julia Williamson [right], 27, was brought in by the record company. Clara Hagman [left], 19, was on the Swedish equivalent of American Idol where Ulf was a judge. She didn't win, but he liked her voice, so he brought her on.
So, Jenny got the boot and left the band for a solo career:

Their new album, "The Golden Ratio", isn't for sale in the US, but you can find it on "the bay". Yarrrr. Shiver me timbers.
It sounds like AOB's 1993 Reggae-synth pop with updated synthesizers and instruments. I like it a lot. If you see a white Saab or a silver Cadillac whizzing by with obnoxiously loud europop playing, its probably me enjoying some Ace of Base.
