Hey, well i went last week to go look at a 91 s13 coupe(SE), its only 1 owner and all in great conditon with it being garaged kept it whole life and only got 133k mi. on it. i am goin tommorow to go and buy it maybe i am unable to get the car to a mechanic or a mechanic come take a look at it, beacuse the dude whos selling the car took the registration off like a month ago and he wont let me take it to a dealer to get it checked up, becuase he doesnt want to take any chances cuz of a recent accident 3 weeks ago. so can anyone or someone give me a list of things that i can look for or do myself to see if the car is a good buy and to see if there are any major problems anywhere. the things i already did was look almost everywhere for rust and none was found and the car is original paint. its in amazing conditoin. OH YAH a girl used to drive it to work so most of the miles are highway miles..PLEASE REPLY TO THIS, I NEED HELP!! :help :help :help

He won't let you take it any where, that sounds kind of shady to me. But I'm on the weird side. Also how much dose he want for it. One more thing I though that only fastbacks were in SE format?

I would definitely be leary if a guy didnt want me test-driving a car I was thinking of buying. If you are sold on the car though, at least do a good inspection beforehand. Bounce the front and rear end to make sure the shocks arent worn. It should only bounce once maybe twice and be still. Check all the body panels to see if paint is all the same and make sure the panels are all lined up right. (i.e. check the gaps between panels to see that they are all uniform and not too wide or narrow, indicating bad bodywork). Obviously check all the buttons and switches inside the cabin. Look for rust or mud where it shouldnt be while you're there. I've seen a lot of flood-salvaged cars lately. Finally, just to re-iterate, I would extra careful since this guy won't let you drive his car. He doesn't even have like a parking lot nearby or something? Anyway, just be careful and good luck. I seen too many people get burned.

hey everyone, let me tell you the entire story, well last thurday i did go and i did test drive the car so there is nothing to be worried about. the car is only one owner and i drove it around the guys block and also tried all the gears..i mean the car is soooo nice well umm there is no rust anywhere and the car has the original clutch and original brake rotors and everthing is great...the reason for why i started this new thread was because i wanted to know things that i could do myself, instead of taknig the car to the mechanic cuz he wont lemme take it there cuz he just took the registaration off of it like 3 weeks ago and that tha cars got no plates on it. so i gotta bring my plates from my POS jetta thats sitting in tha lot of my house and put those on em and drive home then register in PA...well i just wanted to let you guys know what i forgot to tell you..thanks for all the info.
