Hey, well i went last week to go look at a 91 s13 coupe(SE), its only 1 owner and all in great conditon with it being garaged kept it whole life and only got 133k mi. on it. i am goin tommorow to go and buy it maybe i am unable to get the car to a mechanic or a mechanic come take a look at it, beacuse the dude whos selling the car took the registration off like a month ago and he wont let me take it to a dealer to get it checked up, becuase he doesnt want to take any chances cuz of a recent accident 3 weeks ago. so can anyone or someone give me a list of things that i can look for or do myself to see if the car is a good buy and to see if there are any major problems anywhere. the things i already did was look almost everywhere for rust and none was found and the car is original paint. its in amazing conditoin. OH YAH a girl used to drive it to work so most of the miles are highway miles.. PLEASE REPLY TO THIS, I NEED HELP!! :help :help :help

Well when I look at S13 Silvias I check the the tension rods in the front suspension for leaks, all boots, rear subframe bushings, motor mounts, look for leaks at the tailshaft of the transmission and where the transmission and engine meet which would indicate a real main seal leak, check the front of the motor for leaks from the front main and the valve cover gasket as well. Look for rust stains anywhere on or around the engine that would indicate a previous blown hose or overheat, check the radiator for rust inside, check the overflow too(when guys try to hide poor cooling system maintenance by changing it before sale the always forget the overflow) If it's a sunroof car check that it works and also drains properly(water poured around the sunroof should dump out ahead of the rear tire. Lookunder the brake master cylinder for bubbling paint which would mean an overhaul is in order. If it is an LSD equipped car bark the tires to check for proper fuction(2 skid marks) (it will have a small orange sticker on the driver's side of the rear diff cover that says "viscous LSD".

Oh yeah kick the tires :D
