Things not to do with your Z

I work at a shop right up the way from another whose specialty is modding Honda cars. We see a fair share of these cars that are fixed up and running quite quickly. Unless you have owned an NA Z car it typically isn't common knowledge that until you get to 40mph or so you can't outrun a Yugo...our little secret, so in that spirit I share my almost bonehead move of the day.

I had gone to snag some breakfast this morning before work and missed the light by fractions of it turning to make a U. It's a rather long light and while sitting there contemplating whether to run it or not a "riced up" Civic pulls in near me. I don't say that lightly. I don't know what he had done, but more the WAY in which it was done...pvc pipe out the facia, various other strange and possibly performance enhancing "mods" of unknown type. I know for fact he had one of those buzz pipes, cause the moment he pulled up he starts on and off tapping the rev limiter.

The road had been empty, the light letting no traffic through cause there wasn't any. As it cycled back around I decided to act up a bit myself and give this Civic what for...mind you, I am guessing he doesn't know I am slow (shhh). I tac about five grand, dump the clutch and turn the wheel to pull the most Bee You Tee Full 180 drift around the turn. Light bit of smoke is coming up, the car drifts over and as the back end gained a little momentum it came around into the next lane, totally controllable and smooth. I pop the gas a bit to straighten up as I am hearing the Civic doing the same and suddenly just go dead quiet. I look up in the rear view to see a county cop right behind me in the lane I drifted into about 100 yards back.

I let out of it and go into grandpa mode in an instant. I ain't hiding nothing. I didn't see him, he did see me, now what?

I pull to the next light where I turn in fully expecting the cop to pull in behind me. Incredibly, he pulls up beside me shooting that "it's obvious you didn't see me. Do I want to take the time to write your stupid a** a ticket?" Look.
I am acting all nonchalant like nothing happened at all and went on my merry way. Thank the stars for no ticket.
