Hello,Recently someone broke into my '04 G35x. What concerns me most is how they broke into the car.......They were able to slip a thin tool under the driver door handle cover and somehow lower all my windows. They then slipped through the window, without having to open the door..... and consequently not trigger the factory-installed alarm!!Fortunately I do not leave anything valuable in the car and all they took was an IPOD car charger.Unfortunately, this is due to a feature the G35 has that allows the driver to use his key to open the windows before getting into the car. Obviously, this electronic feature seems to think that a knife or screwdriver should have the same access??My concern now is that this can happen again!! Every night I disconnect my windows by unplugging my window controller pad on the door panel. There has got to be a better way? Is this feature available in later models? Can I disconnect this feature, without losing the ability to open and close my windows? Thanks in advance for your advice and help?

Sorry to hear what happened, that's really the pits. I'm glad to hear it wasn't much worse by breaking windows and stealing more valuables. BUt I can certainly see your concern, I have no doubt someone on here will be able to answer your question.

That sucks! At least your windows aren't broken, though!

My only advice would be to invest in a perimeter sensor on your alarm.

There was another post in here about a month ago with a similar issue. I'm curious as to how they did this as it appeared that with the keyhole bezel off, it still looked pretty secure. Do you have any photo showing how they accessed it?

Could you jam a screwdriver in the key slot, and make the windows go down?? This has me very worried...

The thief was able to lift the door handle bezel a few inches and accessed whatever was behind there. I assume the bezel is the oval plastic cover around the door handle. He did not jam anything into the key slot.Sorry, I never took a look underneath the cover, nor do I have a picture of the damage. I took it immediately to the dealer and had their body shop repair the damage. Ultimately they replaced the handle and some sort of module or controller, total cost ~CA$300.All I know is that the thief knew exactly what he was doing.

The first link has photos. It would be hard to access anything there. Sounds like there may be a way to force it from the second link. But having the dealer turn off the window roll down feature may be an option. They would likely still end up breaking the door lock assembly before figuring out it won't work and if they still want in bad enough, they may go ahead and break the window anyways(potentially more $$$ to repair). My post in the second link sums up my suggestions on preventing this. I've handled many insurance claims for this type of thing and have a good deal of exposure to the circumstances when these things most likely occur. Though, there is no guarantee.

Thanks for the info.I read through the links and like jandc, I too had similar problems.I hope the good people at Infiniti re-evaluate the window roll-down feature because it seems to offer thieves a loop-hole to get into the car. Personally, I have never used the feature, and frankly forgot all about it until the break-in.Although they probably won't steal the car, they will be able to get in without setting the factory alarm.Best advice I can give anyone, is to not leave anything of value in your car. Thanks again.

Leaving valuables, especially in plain view is always a bad idea. I don't know how many times I've grilled friends of mine for leaving their keys in plain view inside my car. not they can take the car, but someone with the will sees them and will get insde to see if the key is a matching one. Last thing I need is a broken window over that.

I took it back to the dealer where I bough my car from, they didn't even want to bother. Just asked me to go to the body shop. They claimed that They couldn't even open the door, and they couldn't do anything about it.

So fine, I brought mine to the body shop. Replaced the lock, and fixed a little bit about the scratches, cost me $280... Now my car is "raped"...

Like C-Kwik said, replacing the windows are much more expansive... so good luck to all the owners... Bad ppl are still around...

Oh, I found this on the other forum...

It may be a solution for us...

I wonder if this is a common problem with other manufacturers that have the same roll down feature with their cars. (e.g. I know BMW has the feature on their models.)
