since front brakes do 80% of the work id leave it till your fronts are fried out and do it all at once. just keep an eyes out for that constant loud brake squeak. dont drive for more than a day to keep your rotor from being scratched to much.
Thanks ImStricken,
You are like the 4th garage
So 3 vs 1 about the life thread.
Question: If I still have 40-50% in front, do you think I can do another 15k km on it? I mean now my Rogue is 56k km. For the rear, I will replace it in a month or so, rotor and break pad. The garages and my dealer told me that the rear rotor cannot be used with another set of pad.
Thanks again.
you know its tough to say. i depends on so many variables. season your in, condition of pads, condition of rotors, highway or city, etc.
based upon what i see, you could travel the 15,000miles if your not flying around my New Jersey highways at 80mph like everyone does.
If your area see's Arizona style summers where cars are exposed to 100+ degree ambient shade temps - you have to understand that when you apply the brakes, the metal is already at around 100 degrees-- now add in the typical operating temps to that 100 degree temp = parts might wear a bit quicker. so you might only get 12,000 miles
(in the winter, parts are at near freezing temps, and then reach operating temps- so they wear less due to having lower operating temps. its like if i asked you "if you had to run 5miles, would you do it in the summer heat, or the cool fall weather?" im sure you would want the cooler temps so when your doing your exercise, you stay cooler during peak performance due to cooler ambient temps. i hope that makes sense. )
im almost positive you will get 15,000 out of the front. the rear left(driver side) has one pad that is wearing a little quicker than the other ones. i believe its the outside pad on the rear/left side caliper. all in all, your front are MORE than adequate to drive on. (and since front do 80% of the work, those are the most important when slowing down from 65mph
im going to take your pics into photoshop and show you the pad life so you know in the future what your looking at and how to easily tell.
