ASU player killed during a home invasion

Albany -- Police reports say Antonio Atkins and another man broke into a house on West Broad Avenue.

One of two men in the house, Johnathan Young, grabbed a 12-gauge shot gun and shot and killed Atkins. The other robber ran away and police are still searching for him now.

Albany detectives search for clues at 2015 West Broad Avenue. Police reports say Antonio Atkins and another man broke into the house and tried to rob Johnathan Young and Michael Thomas. The report goes on to say Young, a barber at the marine base, shot Atkins.

Atkins was dead when police arrived around 1:15 this morning. Atkins was from Jesup, Georgia and was a running back for the Albany State football team.

Hanes Tankersley lives just two houses down from crime scene. He was shocked and frightened to hear about the shooting. "I think it's serious. We need to be more careful by locking our doors and keeping an eye on everybody else."

Are you concerned for your own safety now, I asked him. "I try not to be, but it's something you think about."

Tankersley says he didn't hear anything. But another neighbor, who didn't want to talk on camera, says police found a torn piece of shirt on her fence, possibly from the second suspect who ran when shots were fired.

The police report says Michael Thomas describe the second assailant as a black man wearing gray T-shirt. Thomas thought he drove off in a dark Honda Accord. The second suspect remains on the loose.

Albany State would not comment today on Antonio Atkins' death.

Does anyone know what IBTL stands for and why they keep referring to it in the questions on the Ebay auction?

IBTL=In Before the Lock Im guessing that the auction would be pulled for violating Ebay policies.

Its only at $3.50 right now, what a steal! Reminds me of the time I almost got to name some lady's unborn child for $10 bucks. She had to pull the auction cause no one else bid on it with less than a day left.

A couple of years ago when I lived in NC, there was a news story from a neighboring town of someone getting a cap in their *** during a home invasion. It should occur to the would-be invader that it is entirely possible to pick "the wrong house". IMHO, that's what happened here, dude picked "the wrong house" to break into.

That said, I got a chuckle out of it too. I care not, one way or the other, about any racial implications involved. A jackass is a jackass, regardless of the skin he's wrapped in.

This is a pic with it on in broad daylight. Having in your eyes in the dark of night is utterly blinding which in turn is painful. The 135 grain Cor Bon hollowpoint moving at 1400 feet per second coming out of the barrel is the pain killer.
