Manual trannys are avail for $100-200 at the yards. Some labor and a new battery and you're back up and running.

Cheaper than a new car my friend...

The point is if your car has a manual transmission you can pick up another one from a junkyard, or rebuild the one you have for a couple of bennys, plus it's not too difficult to pull and replace it yourself.

Problems with starting are even easier to fix.

It just occured to me that maybe your engine locked up. What exactly happened?

Im kinda in the same situation, I just bought a 240 and the head gasket blew and im not sure if i want to rebuid or just sell it....How hard is it to replace the head gsket on a ka24de?

Head gaskets aren't too bad, just make sure you don't need other engine work, such as rings or bearings.

Ok Yeah thats what i am worried about is if there is more damage when i get it apart, it only has about 65lbs of compression across the head
