What would you say to a service guy if you had a 2008 Pathfinder, 28400 miles? Nothing charging continuiously...sometimes a cell phone or ipod.

I am once again being fed a line of BS...

THey are trying to blame it on me leaving lights on/not closing a door/charging too much stuff. (not the case)

he started to insinuate that having the radio, the seat heater, and chargers in the slot (but with nothing attached) drains the battery....

He can't give me a straight answer. I think that a module that is supposed to turn off is stuck or I just got a bad battery from the get go. Nevertheless, I'm really miffed that I just paid a prorated amount of $70 for a new battery.

there are so many variables that can cause a battery to go bad. but if they say the battery was bad, and the problem is fixed after they replaced it, then obviously it was the battery.

Yes, we'll see. Last summer when they had my car for 17 days, they said the harness wiring was bad. I thought they were going to replace the battery then, but they apparently did not.

Not to be critical, but didn't you already cover this in your other thread about your 2008 Pathy?

did I cover it? I guess so. I was venting a bit in the other thread. I thought if I was specific in asking people here who might have some insight as to why a battery is "bad" at 28,400miles.

If I drive my car into the garage and don't "turn off" the radio, turn off the seat heater, a charger is in the charge slot, does that really stress the battery?

the other reason I'm asking is because the service guy is unable to give me any explanation other than "kids leave doors open", "kids leave lights on" "kids charge their stuff" I only have one child and he's not leaving doors open or lights on.

If the service guy could at a minimum offer some suggestions, I wouldn't feel like I'm getting the "runaround" or "ripped off". That's all. Wondering what people here would say if their batteries needed replaced at this point. That's all.

if my battery needed to be replaced after 30k miles, i'd replace it and be done with it. some batteries just don't last long. a dead battery is a dead battery. there's no point in b****ing about it.

You guys are rough! Please understand my frustration. I want to LOVE my Pathfinder same as my others, but it is very frustrating when you know something isn't right and you keep going back with specific information and they say "batteries don't die for NO REASON"Then, they do the battery tests and sure enough, it reads zero on the reading (I guess that is "stored energy")They said before batteries don't just die, but when I ask them to look for a cause, especially given all the quirky stuff that has been documented, they refuse, charge me $70 for a battery and tell me my kid is leaving the door open all night.

Had they replaced the battery last summer, it wouldn't have been a big deal, but they changed the harness wires. That obviously wasn't the problem or the same events wouldn't have started occurrirng again.

And, I do hope this solves the problem.
