I've been posting & asking others advice on the problem I was havng with my01 Maxima. New IACV & new ECU but car was still idleing rough & stalling out, hard shifting, poor gas mileage and poor acceleration. I asked them if they checked a few things I mentioned & they said they did. One thing I did ask about and they said they checked was the MAF. Well low & behold, it ended up being the MAF that was bad. They said the way they checked it was to hook it up directly to a machine that monitors it for awhile & when they do, it shows eractic behavior. Not at a consistent steady read. So they replaced it & what a big difference. Car now responds instanty like it did when new, smooth shifting not hard jerks, car no longer winds out taking forever to shift into last gear, idles perfect & does not stall out. I dont beleive they checked the MAF right away at the begining, if they did, would of fixed the problem last week.

What gets me is, I told them I heard things can be going out & not register & cause the check engine light to come on, & they said "Oh no, it would bring the Check engine light to come on for sure". Then he says because it did not cause it to go over certain parameters, it would not bring the light on. I was like is'nt that what I said, that something like this could be messin up & not register? Sheesh, but they got it & wife & I are very happy they did.

They have the electrical specs for the MAF

If it exceeded resistance or voltage specs on a multimeter it would need to be replaced probably.
