ok, car is blowing cold air outta heater. so i bleed system by removing rad. cap and bleder screw... let all fluid drain out...filled back up till slightly over flowing...replaced bleeder screw...ran car for 30 min ... replaced rad cap. the air got a little warmer for a few mins but went back to horriably cold. so next is to replace the thermostst, now.....where the hell is it located on the sr?!?

Oh, and be careful what thermostat you use. I used the one that's supposed to fit from autozone and broke to of the necks till I realized that it was too thick. Get one that's made for the SR and save yourself some time and money.

rtv silicone gasket maker. hmm thinkin my themo is stuck in open. if i hold the engine at 3grand the heat will warm up.. after a minute or so it cools back down. flushed the system to try and unclog the heater core if it was.. and unstick the thermo.. didnt work. ... so dont get a thermo for the ka get the one for sr20.. the one from a sentra Se-R will work right?

When the cold air was blowing out, was the car warmed up to operating temp. and also registering on the gauge?

no, it was 20 degrees out side. i turned my car on and immeditally turned on the heater expecting hot air. /end scarcasm.....sorry but i'm not competely car retarted. this problem has been occuring for a few weeks and its kinda starting to scare me cause no matter how long the car runs no hot air.....which means the engine has to be overheating in someway . the new thermo is now installed but still no hot air......the other day i found a loose hose clamp in the back of the engine bay around the hose that connects to what appears to be a throddle body for your coolant. i'm not sure what this device is and would like to know so if someone could help me out there i'd appericate it. but hopefully this lose clamp is what was allowing all the air to keep getting into my cooling system.

ok, problem solved. the throddle body like gizzmo that is apart of the coolant lines that lead to the heater core was closed and the wire that opens it was disconnected. so i jsut pushed it to what i assume is the open position. i turned on the car ran it for a few minuites and presto we have heat.

if anyone could tell me what this gizmo is and what it does i'd like to know cause the cable still isn't connected and i'm not sure if it needs to be connected of not.

That "throttle body like gizmo thing" is known as the water c***.Sometimes commonly referred to as the heater control valve as well. Did you do your own swap? Maybe you left that disconnected when you were done. To answer your question, YES THAT CABLE NEEDS TO BE CONNECTED if you like having control of the temperature inside your car. It connects from the air mix door behind your dash to the water c***, and it regulates the hot/cold air coming out of your vents. Beats the hell out of pulling over and popping your hood everytime you want to adjust the temp. doesn't it? Are you sure your not car retarded?

ok, heres another question for ya milehigh. i was driving around enjoying my working heater and it got a little warm in the cab. so i turn the air all the way to the off position. i can still feel a little bit of hot air coming out of the vents however. is this normal??

also, cable is still not connected to water c*** because the bracket that holds the cable in place is broken. so c*** is still on full open position.

Yeah, all cars do that. It's just pressurization differences causing the air to still come out of the vent. Just switch the climate control knob to the middle or all the way cold and it will blow cooler air.

Ahh just noticed the water c*** valve is hung open. Well until you can close that you will always have hot air coming in. Just roll down the window a bit and you'll be good.

ok, thats cool. i still think i am overheating my engine though. i havn't gotten my temp gauge working yet....i need to get the ka temp sensor and put that in. but when i feel the valve cover its extreamly not.....almost to hot to touch. so would taking out the thermo out help the engine stay cool till i can afford a new radior....which by the way is pretty well FuXoReD.

I would'nt take the thermostat out. The engine needs to get to a certain operating temperature so the ecu does not still think it's in warm up mode and continue to dump fuel. I mean, if you drive it, is there any white smoke emitting from the engine bay? I think if it was overheating badly, you would know right away. Do you smell coolant anywhere?

hey highmile, where is the water c*** on the s13 chassis. can you perhaps show me a pic. i had my sr done by my mechanic who had no idea ( didn't pay after he took 4 months) but i can't swtich between vents, or control the temp, and hot air always coming in, until now when the engine runs cold. also does not having the lines hooked up mater (a/c lines)

water c*** is at the very back of the engine bay on the drivers side. there is an inch think coolant line near your master cylinder...follow that line and there will be a device that looks like a very small throddle body, this is the water c***.
