My radiator cracked on top when i was charging the ac. I was going to change the thermostat when i looked at the 3 nuts/bolts two of them are a normal nut and one is some kind of hex or something anyone know if this is normal? how do you change it? and the parts store said no gasket is required?

IIRC, it's a 12mm nut, and 6mm hex keys for the other two bolts. You use liquid gasket NOT A TON, just a smearing. And you have to clean both the the housing and the pipe very well to get the old silicone off. Let the gasket set for many hours/overnight before starting or you'll be sorry.

you can get a set of allen head wrenches made for ratchets at the local parts store if you need them, i would not try using a hand set as most are not long enough and the risk of it slipping and rounding is too great those suckers are likely in there tight too. plus bloody knuckles are not necessary lol

it helps when putting the thermostat back in to use a very light smear of silicone against the block just on the outer edge of the thermostat where it sets in the groove of the block. very light bc to much could form a ball and clog the thermostat and be counter productive but used right it is enough to ensure the thermostat will not fall out if bumped when putting the cover an possibly leaking. it also seals the therm in so no coolant can go around it and that the thermostat retains full control of flow.
