thermostat?

well, i got in my car today and was talking to my dad while waiting for it to warm up (as the aicv is shot and it runs like crap when cold). i glanced at the temp gauge and it was all warmed up (a little past half way up the gauge), but when i got off the phone a minute or so later and looked again, it was only about 1/4 up the gauge. now thats all well and good that its running cold, but it runs like crap when its cold! i drove it around for 5 minutes or so in some traffic and it didnt heat up at all. one other thing, it doesnt stay warm very long at all after i drive it, which is unusual because it will usually stay warm for hours (leading me to believe it really isnt warming up). im guessing its the thermostat sticking open, but what do you guys think?

Yea Tim, I'd say the thermo is stuck open. Before I pulled my SOHC KA out it did the exact same thing to me.

fair enough. ill put a new one in tomorrow when im wiring up the megasquirt (woot!) think i can do it in one weekend? because i sure dont. im gonna try though dammit!

ok, i swapped the thermostat and it runs fine now. had a little bit of a scare though when i was testing it out. i put my foot into it and my boost gauge crept up to 17lbs before i went "holy crap!" and lifted. it didnt knock or anything, but it was a little scary. thanks manual boost controller!

I take it that means you didn't hook up the mega squirt?

haha, no, but i did get it put together. i still need to go scavenge a edis4 setup because i went to brunch with my grandma instead of going to the junk yard. it should be good to go thanksgiving break.
