Hello all, my car is a `93 240SX SE Auto... it's an electrical nightmare. What wire controls the thermostat, because when I press my brakes the domelight dims, my headlight dims, and my thermostat goes erratic.

I know it's not overheating and the alternator is fine. There's a loose wire somewhere, I just don't know which one it would be.

See my car was rebuilt... and they didn't put it back together that well. At all. Any help is appriciated, I know it's just a wire jiggling around that shouldn't be but I don't know which one it may be.

Man I know that you said that the alternator is fine, but it sounds like the alternator to me. Did they cut in to any wires any where that there might be a short? When alternators go out they tend to make the electrical system do some funny things.

I know for a fact. Alternators fine. Wish it were that simple. It's a wire that loose.

A wire, even more specifically, most likely connected to the relay box on the lefthand side of the enginewell. There's jumble of wires here though and I don't know which one is which. How can I find out?

I don't think that the chiltons is detailed enough to get you the info that you need. I got a very detailed wiring diagram for my car, but I had to have my Nissan dealer print it off for me. If you know someone there that will hook you up that would be nice.

This sounds exactly like bad grounds. Clean the heavy ground wires from the battery tray to the body, and the body to the intake plenum. When completly different systems start interacting it is usually bad grounds, as they are common to everything on the car.

It's not the ground, the ground wasn't even hooked up 2 days ago, now it is. Had to take it to Nissan and pay $350 to have the AT control unit power supply and fluid temp sensor circuit fixed, they weren't hooked up right.

My car is a nightmare.

In addition to them hooking grounds up all over the car that weren't even hooked up.

Car: What the **** do you think.

Make sure they load test your battery and it doesn't fall below 10.5 volts

It does sound like a bad ground somewhere.. because if something was shorted, more than likely you would have other problems. (Like on/off or intermittent problems).

What all was "rebuilt" or replaced?

The car was wrecked and rebuilt in the front/left side. Got a good deal on it from a family friend.
