Hi, I have a 2015 Rogue S AWD, 4800 miles, and need some technical advice on the heater system. For the sake of explanation, say the coolant temp gauge is divided into 5 segments, 0 is cold, 3 is normal operating temp, 5 is hot. Fan is on high, temp adjust all the way up to hot. So, here is what happens. I get in and drive around the town, temp comes up to about 2.5, but heater blows cool air, after driving a few miles, temp creeps to 3, and I get some warm air. I pull over and idle, temp creeps back down to 1, and heater blows cool air. I get on the freeway, after a few miles temp is at 3, heater blows hot air, I'm happy. I exit the freeway, temp goes down to 2.5 gradually, heater blows warm air. We have canyons by us, and here the effect is magnified. Up the canyon, temp on 3, heat hot. Down the canyon, engine not working, temp goes to 1, air cold. I have had it in to the dealer, they said they checked for a bubble, didn't find one. They changed out the controller(?), I guess that controls the vent doors, but that didn't change anything. They say the heater works fine on the freeway. Yeah, I know that. So I looked online at Nissan parts. 2013 Rogue has a thermostat, no water regulating valve according to the drawing. 2013 Rogue has both a thermostat and a water regulating valve (second thermostat). So my question is, would the second thermostat help my heating, and why did they leave it off?
Any help appreciated. Thank you.
