Thermo element 86.5 d21 z2.4I motor

I received a thermo element kit for my throttle body..I would appreciate any knowledge about this.Do you discard the spring thing .I assume this holds the element together before you install it.My email is [email protected] can show pics .

I would have to say yes, that spring is there to keep the thermo unit from coming apart during shipping.
