Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried making phenolic spacers for the lower intake manifolds to attempt to limit the temperature increase on the intake air?

I figure a half inch thick and an easy way to do some port matching.

Through in some insulation in the V and you might find some power on a hot day.

With our luck it's so carefully tuned for runner length that it would make less power!

So maybe get a machinist to shave off some of the runner, and match-install a spacer. Glass Ultem has a phenolic base I think and is easy to work with. LP509 glass-resin would probably work well too. I think 1/2" is way too much though. 1/8" would probably be very effective.

The problem is on a cold day since the injectors are so far up the runner from the valve seat.

I was thinking about the effect moving the injectors out would have. Maybe shaving or cutting nd rewelding the manifolds is an option. Not necessarily a good one, but an option.

Another option would be to aggressivly cool the intake manifold.

How about cooling the intake charge in another manner? Like using water/alcohol injection. Seems to be easier to set-up.

I know what a pain it is to take-off that plenum. I would not do it again, unless it was necessary.
