Somewhere between the first and second gear change there is a nasty rattle coming from somewhere. I originally thought it was the transmission but Infiniti ruled that out. It happens intermittently, but it happens. Does anyone else have this problem?

Does it happen only when its cold? I know that Nissan/Infiniti have problems with heat shields. Mine was making alot of noise when idling.

No it happens most often when I am accelerating from a stop, and espcially when I accelerate into a right turn.

Is it coming from the engine compartment? Below the car? Somewhere else?

Sounds like something is loose ...

time to break out the wrenches and tighten things up. I do that every once in a while with interior parts and below the car. Keeps everything tight.

I had a rattle once. I have aftermarket wheels on my car. I first thought the noise was coming from the center caps which weres loose. Come to find out the noise was coming from the stainless steel tailpipe tips which were loose.
