So I wake up, and go out to my car. And the hood is poped and I didn't remember poping the hood, I think to myself maby I hit it before I got out, so thingking I'll just close it I walk closer to the car and notice the drivers window looks like it's down. then I see the drivers window on the ground...Tint and all... and the hatch window beside it...I look in the hatch and sure eanough the subs and the amp were stolen, the capacitor smashed and everything just ripped out I open the door and the center console is torn appart in an attemped to take the deck out of my car breaking the brackets that held it in and just hurting the car in general

just makes me sad they wern't even very good speakers either

i would be glad they werent very good speakers, although thats little consolation.

usually this is covered under homeowners insurance, and most people have a deductable that can screw you if you didnt spend a lot putting your system in, or you dont have receipts for the insurance company.

edit: your pictures made me sad that there is human life capable of sinking so low... at least you have your headunit... are you planning on investing on some more security instead of system components this time around? sucks...

They havent given me anything for it yet, I'm still trying to get it into the body shop to fix what I can't... paint the hatch(which is green right now) install the quarter glass, and tint the glass

My deductable was only 100....lucky me

Sloppy work too, when mine was broken into they just popped the driver's side lock and took the speakers.

Yes but obviously these people had no clue on how to steal anything because there was a 200someod piece tool kit behind the drivers seat with which they could have removed the stereo and I think they broe the quarter glass for fun.

I have already replaced the hatch and the drivers window but I don't have the tools to replace the quarter... The hatch is green and the windows untinted, What fun it is to fix cars all the time

yes the cd player is rather a waist of money, I wouldn't reccommend it either but I wanted a player that other people couldn't mess with because I almost got into an accdent with my previous car because people where messing about in the car and with the radio... It was a "super" topaz

Thats horrible. I had my S13 broke into 3 times in one year all the same rear quarter window. Seriously If they would have knocked on my door I would have unlocked the car.

What are some preventative measures one could take? Car alarm, Lojack, and maybe a Driving Wheel lockbar?

Damn, sorry to hear about your misfortune.

No one heard the glass breaking? That guy must have had some balls: but I suppose he could break it, then hide, considering those bushes beside the car. I agree, he must not have been too bright: who breaks into a car and doesn't bring a screwdriver??(for the h/u). I don't know from exp or anything, I'm just saying...unless it was just a random last minute idea...

I think before replacing the stereo equip you should invest in an alarm... if it doesn't scare them off first, at least it'll wake someone else up to confront them...

a-holes...

'Bos, Clubs can be defeated, and how many times are you really going to hassle with puting it on? If you have to *think* about securing your car, you're less likely to do so...just statistically... and does you car have enough mods/investments to pay $30+(or whatever it is) a month for tracking? I mean no offense to anyone, but these aren't masserati's or diablo's we're driving. I'd say an alarm is about the best you can do, with all the goodies(ie backup alarm, fuel pump kill, remote page, etc, etc). But alarm is only as good as it's install...

Anyways, there are tons of other threads on anti-theft schemes here on NICO.

So this is a dumb question, but do hatches have a remote release? Are they key-entry only?

i was thinking, they shoud have starter switchs so that you can disable your starter once you get out of your car. i'd pay for it in a heartbeat. if they already have it then tell me. if they dont im inventing it and getting rich, later.

well for one I plan on getting a fairly decent alarm before I replace the stereo, hopefully I'll find the receipts for the stereo... and about the glass breaking... I was in the basement and at the back of the house the car was at the end of the driveway.... and I was busy... that is allas for hotwiring ... I have a switch in my car, the is connected through starter solenoid circuit and when I'm at my girlfriends house I'll flip that baby.... I might draw up a diagram but I don't want to say exactly where it is in the car..... although I don't think anyone from here would actually try to take my car..

The hatches have a release beside the drivers seat as well as the fuel dooryes, they should incorporate a starter deactivation relay into the alarm, or something like it.

Oh I see- I just didn't understand at the time why they busted the rear hatch out, that's all. FYI almost any alarm will have a 'Ground when armed' pin that can be used as a starter or fuel pump disable(through a relay): even if it doesn't feature remote start.

I dunno, to me $30/month might be a good investment for Lojack. I do plan on keeping this car for ~10-15 years.

Ignition kill, fuel kill, Burmese Python. In that order. Or park in a garage.

Seriously, this is why I have the fuel pump shut off switch, Club, and Alarm... and if thats if its in my garage with a lock on it. When I'm out and about I do all that plus I get all crazy taking the steering wheel off, and remove my aftermarket coil pack ignitor unit so the car cant be started, unless they put the stock coil packs back in and reconnect the regular wiring.
