My '96 Q45's alarm and theft system activated for some mystifying reason.

Passenger reached overt to opened truck with driver door release. (Engine was off, doors not locked trunk obviously closed.) Alarm went off and shut down car. After a short time horn stop blaring. Passenger then opened his door and the alarm started again.
Tried ignition key to start car but of course nothing and alarm still full blast.
What eventually stopped the alarm was inserting the key into the trunk lock. Also Key fob is never used.
So any ideas so this does not happen again.
Maybe disarming the whole thing.

Infiniti in San Francisco is worthless.

Turning the key in a door will also disarm it, assuming the cylinder switches are all okay. Chances are they're fine, bad ones usually cause "mystery alarms". Most of the older Nissan/Infiniti stuff is set up that way, nothing you do with the ignition cylinder or fob will shut it up. Not sure if a '96 has an SEC (Smart Entrance Control), but if it does, the alarm can generally be configured "off" with a CONSULT-II or -III+ just like the BCM on later models.
