My 1985 300zx Turbo failed the CO part by 2 points. You wouldnt think that was bad but for it to be legal and pass u need a .97 or below. The Z scored a 2.97 and apperntly bigger numbers arnt better.

So now im stumped. I know the engine needed work because when the car is cold it runs like **** and when ever you push in the gas pedal the car just bogges down and when you push in the clutch it will idel at 2grand. But once it warmed up it ran like a champ and ideled at 1grand and had great responce.

The prevous owner did put a cheap aftermarket muffler on it but i doubt it would cause me to fail by 200% when i passed the other 2 parts of emissions fine.

Im looking for your guys adivce on what i should check out on the car.

just a couple of things to check, the CHTS, the FICV and perhaps the 2 sensor, might be a good idea to check the overall condition of the turbo as well, see if she has any oil leaking in the intake or exhaust sice
