He was moving too fast, he might have expected her to notice. It's also not abnormal for some runners to close their eyes for seconds at a time. I watched this over and over again, love the reaction from the guy with the orange sweater.

I found a larger video version. Looks like the runner had his head down for most of the run and was focusing on accelerating as hard as he could ... he simply did not see her at all till the last minute and then it was too late to stop! Crunch.

Hope she survived the impact without too much damage! I would not have.
