Car: 2007 Versa SL with SVL, silver

Post

Hello! After putting down my deposit with Luther Nissan in October for a Versa SL with CVT in Blue Onyx, I was told there would be a 60 day back order on my car. I was okay with this, and started to await my Versa's arrival. Then, just before Thanksgiving, the Sales Manager of the dealership called me and told me that the CVT transmission was on backorder until MARCH!!! At this point, I agreed to compromise on the interior color (wanted black, but settled for tan) in order to take a Versa which would be coming in on Dec 15th. Luther Nissan agreed to give me a loaner car on Dec 1.

On Dec 1, I picked up the loaner car. On Dec 2, I got another call from Luther's Sales Manager, with some bad news. They ACCIDENTALL Y promised me a car which had already been sold! OOPS! It's not like these guys are professionals or anything. I was done doing business with those clowns and got my $500 deposit back.

That same day, I went to Wayzata Nissan, who were incredibly helpful. They had a Versa on the lot, although it was not one of the colors I wanted. I bought the car, and they traded to get me the color I wanted. That's what a dealer's supposed to do!I

Versas are a tough find up here in Minnesota. I dealt with Feldmann Imports with a much better outcome. Although I didn't get the car I ordered, and that was only by color (black instead of the Onyx) and transmission (auto vs. 6sp), I couldn't be happier. I had the same long wait time on initial order, when it was getting down to the due date, every Versa S that Feldmann had come in, my sales guy called with the details. It was hard to not to jump on the one I recieved. And I do like the auto...Besides, it WASN'T a Denny Hecker dealership! Glad you got your car though!

in my case. the dealer had a auto S versa on the lot. in black not a color i wanted entirely, but i could have delt with. My saleman called up a few dealership taht does their trade program. He found a 6mt at one dealership and they traded for it.

the only problem was that they drop 100+ miles on the odo. but you know what, i would still take it because it was hard enough finding a 6mt at the time.

I wouldn't be to worried about the mileage. If they drove the car from one dealer to the other, which is pretty common, then that would explain a good chunk of the miles.

First I would like to say excellent job on getting you money back. I haven't heard of any extended wait times on the CVT. Especially all the way to March. The CVT is still rolling out of the factory, and I think there are a few members that are expecting to take delivery of one soon. I find it very convenient that he contacted you after 2 months to tell you your car would be delayed. I wouldn't be surprised if he forgot to order the car. Nissan doesn't arbitrarily delay orders unless there's a very serious problem. If anything, Nissan would at least honor current orders and begin to restrict new orders. I definitely have to throw one up for that

My dealer and some on the forum here that are "in the know" mentioned dealer alotments. How does that work and what are the limitations to a dealer? I know the sales guy before the one that sold me the car mentioned they may get 2 slots for orders.
