this friend I helped has a RB20DET in his 89 240SX hatch. If u move the original engine harness into the 240 and plug it up,with the stock RB20DET ecu, does the ecu have to get power from somewhere else to turn over ,or will it start up.alot of the white plugs that are next to the main ecu plug are still hanging their do they need to plug into something or can they just hang their. I didn't cut anything or soldered any wire to another I just plugged in alot of the connectors that were there, to the engine sensors. Nothing is really missing but thier are some connectors in the engine bay that were cut are not connected to anything, just zip-tied to the main harness.

power to the ecu are connected in the engine bay, if you done the wiring there correctly it will start right up.

one of the white plug has a black/pink wire that should connect to the black/pink in the engine bay for the fuel pump, and the orange/red & black/blue wire on the same white plug should be connected to the dash harnes to send signal to the cluster's water temp and tach.

one advice, do not twist two wires together without soldering, you'll regret it.

btw! there will be many plugs on the rb harness that you don't need.

well its ok to twist and tape the wires for testing, then once everythings confirmed to work perfect you go back and solder it all, however i would never leave them twisted permanitly. which im sure is what you meant
