So I made a thread detailing my s-afc woes on my 89 240 with the single overhead cam. After double checking the wires and switching the RPM signal (the problem was the RPM signal VERY erratic and inacurate) to the dash harness, it was still bad. So I plugged a brand new s-afc into my harness, read RPM perfectly. Great. My head unit is just bad.....or is it? It has since been in a 10th AE rx7 and a 2nd gen GSX (where it now resides), and works perfectly in both. The guy with the GSX had it in his heart to trade me head units because his worked in my car too.
I really can't explaine this and no I've come across can either.
Was it some beta version S-AFC I had? Could something have been damaged that it wouldn't read ONLY my car properly? Who knows. This thread is just for historical and discussion purposes.
