Ok, so today i was driving my z down the road and everything was going great until i came accross a sharp turn. I took it no problem but about halfway through the turn when i stepped on the gas, nothing happened! I thought the car had died, but as i slowed down i realized that it was still idling, but very very slowly. Pushing down the gas pedal does nothing at all, but when i put the car in gear, the idle jumps up to around 1200 and stays there until i take it out of gear again. I shut it off to hopefully reset something but when i tried to turn it back on it wouldnt start. The battery is dead.

If anyone has any advice please let me know! this car has never given me any problems, i love my z

thanks

maybe check your common ground wire, could be loose and the turn could of caused it to jump off contact. Also check the ground for corrosion, a lot of ground wires corrode through out the wire. If its corroded you may have to replace it (like $9 at a local auto parts store). Other than that, have your battery tested before you think about buying a new one, also have your alternator tested. Both can be done at your local auto parts store for free.

Your problem could be something worse, but lets aim for the simple inexpensive stuff first.

Something grounding causing a short and draining battery perhaps. May wanna take that in and let them test the wiring.

thanks for the advice. i think my alternator may be bad but that wouldnt cause the gas pedal not to work. the ground wire and the connection are both totally fine, and i dont they would cause a problem like this anyway. i cant just bring my car into the dealership because when they take one look at my non carb legal kenitix plenum and various other little aftermarket parts, im done. even though i know for a fact that those parts have nothing to do with the problem.

the car is a manual, y would the rpms jump up when i put it in gear?
