This is shaping up to be a major move if it happens. IS Biden considering stepping aside to allow Clinton to take over. What if he did? This is a r*u*m*o*r at this time, but an interesting discussion could follow.

If this turns out to be true, I think it's very convenient timing. And, if the reasons I'm guessing are applicable, it would make me lose my last shred of respect for Obama.

LOL, what fun for the media speculators!

Remember the Reagan/Ford co-Presidency that Dan Rather was shopping around at the 1980 convention? LOL!

Yah, sure, that'll happen - Obama will say "Oops, the very first Presidential decision I made, I screwed up. You don' mind if I take a do-over, do y'all?"

Uh huh.

Obviously that's not the way it would go down. It would be Biden bowing out due to some reason that made his participation impossible. Health, etc.

Now if that happened, and Hillary was replaced. The female issue gets buried, and Hillary can go after Palin like there is no tomorrow, and that's something Biden can't do.

I'd guess Palin would come down with "family issues" and step aside for Romney or some other political power.

This is fun.

Maybe Biden will bow out after Sarah waxes his butt in the debate?

I agree with you. Biden can't be setting up a situation where he leaves just to allow Hillary in. As you point out, there definitely would have to be a compelling reason for him to bow out.

Unless he already knows of such a compelling reason, he either had a brain fart or he fumbled while impromptu speaking.

Either way, look for Palin to hit him with that quote at the debate. I expect her to be very well coached.

But Bob, if you and I and the other people on this forum aren't fooled by this, do you really think that the Republicans will allow the American people to be fooled by it? I don't believe there is ANY method by which Hillary could replace Biden that wouldn't lose Obama the election.

I agree, though, this is fun.

Oh this is crap, no one is stepping down.

Biden was just assuaging a Hillary supporter, he was letting this person know that he has a high opinion of Senator Clinton, that's IT.

Neither VP candidate will step down.

I think they should both step down

On a serious note, if Biden did step down because he all of the sudden realized that he's about to die, then the public would see right through it and Obama would lose major votes. But like Hash said, won't happen.

Besides, has anyone even considered the idea that Hillary refused the VP slot? Why the HELL would she want to be VP in an Obama administration.? Wait 8 more years and try after Obama leaves office. Duh, no.

She's in a no-lose situation. If Obama loses, she runs in 2012 saying "I told you so, you dolts." If Obama wins, she can run in 8 years anyway.

Hillary ain' takin' no VP position, noway nohow

"The vice Presidency isn't worth a bucket of warm spit."

Once again, sage words from a wise man.

Fun to speculate tho - What a clusterf*** THAT would be...

Even if Hillarious could mop the floor with Palin from a policy standpoint, she'd STILL not increase her popularity... Backfire City, Population 1. Hillary would then be percieved as a psycho crazy b**** with an axe to grind.

Wait....

I'm *pretty* certain if it had been HER in the Oval Office with Monica, Monica wouldn't have had to settle for the substitute cigar.

The compelling reason would have to be something other than his own death or illness. Something like one of his kids being terminal. Otherwise he would just go through the election, step down later and let the President pick his successor as V.P.

I think his reply just didn't come out quite the way he wanted and the whole thing is being overblown.

Heheh, good ol' Joe Biden. I've always liked the guy, but he's always had that verbal diarrhea problem. I see he still has it. Oh well, probably not much damage done this time, but it does sorta inoculate anyone else who might make a gaffe (*cough, cough Sarah Palin *cough*).
