The last I remember, there wasn't enough interest in the adapter for him to make a batch.
I am not too crazy about the gearing in the Z32 trans anyway. You would get better acceleration but your cruising rpms would be too high.
That's the reason that I had posted the topic on the 6l80e. To me, a six-speed auto might be the best compromise.
You won't have to deal with figuring out how to get the pedal assembly in the car nor deal with shifter location issues. You would have to use an aftermarket controller to run the trans. Of course, you have to work out the bellhousing situation but that is a given for any trans swap.
GM is coming out with a heavier duty version of the same trans, called the 6L90E. This is supposed to go on their bigger trucks. It is supposed to be the same size as the 6L80E which they are currently using in the Cadillac STS-V and in the new Escalade and Yukon.
I don't care if my Q45 has a GM trans, since the stock trans is not made by Nissan anyway. If the 6L80E trannies are reliable, then it would be a good candidate for a swap.
Interesting points.... the difference in RPM is only about 8% different.. (.75/.69=1.08). So at 60MPH youll be going about 160RPM faster (2000x1.08=2160... hardly noticeable.. Plus, youll be dropping weight, and the clutch is more effecient that a torque converter, especially a high stall converter..... In theory youll be turning more RPM but i think real world highway cruising will be a wash....
I wonder if you could swap in a lower 5th gear, like .55 or something. thatd be nice
I think the 5 speed in the Q isnt gonna be that hard, really. I think the first half of the Q45 driveshaft and Z32 driveshaft (TT) are the same length... Which means, in theory you could take the 2nd half of the Q45 driveshaft and mount it to the 1st half of the Z32... It may work, it may not...
I did the calculations for the shifter, and the shifter is gonna be DAMN close to the stock location.. Its about 29in from the bellhoursing to the shifter, and thats roughly where the shifter is currently is on the Q (from the firewall).. I think it will be really really close..
The Z32 pedals can be utilized. Youll have to relocate the cruise control servo but you can get a MC in there... Thats where it is on the Z32.. If the Z32 is too big you can use a maxima one too, those are a lot shorter...
The stock E brake needs to come out and the stock Z32 pedal can go right in there (clutch pedal)...
I've spent a lot of time looking inot this, I'm not pulling this out of a hat.
