Hey all, live in Aust so I can't actually drive one of these and am looking to put a VH41/45 Hybrid into a 240Z. Have lucked onto a guy who has had one of these with the 4 speed auto attached to a VH45 in a Patrol, he reckoned the box was great, have also heard of a few blokes who have added paddles to their car and played with the electronics to change shift rates and torque converter lockup.
What I'm wondering is: Do Nissan only do a 4 speed or is there a 5?I know the 41 block is diff to a 45, however is the box different? If not then wouldn't the 41 block mate to a 45 box with a 41 bellhousing? Is the VH45 bellhousing diff to a VK45 bell housing?Just wondering as this way I may be able to get a 5 speed auto to play "like" a manual which may assist the traction control to get me off the line.
May have also tracked a guy in Sydney who has done Billet cams for the 41 with a 45 crank, so they may fit the 45. Will post in the cams section when I find out more. The setup I may have picked up off him is as follows:VH41 Block re-sleeved to 98mmVH45 Crank re-sized(very slightly) to suit off the shelf billet rods12.0:1 forged pistons for E85 fuel, this combo gives swept volume of 5.0ltrs.Billet cams good to 9000rpm+ power wise, ground for HLA's so recommends to stop at 8200. He builds ski boat engines so these run at max revs for hours towing skiers in river racing.Stock 41 heads, available to re-valve for solid lifters, different cams, higher revs, better flows. Depends on what I want to do. Estimated power 650Hp flywheel conservative. Thank goodness I can de-tune.....a bit.
Any help with the gearbox info would be very good please!!!
Many Thanks!
