I own a 96 240sx se and i'm thinking about chaning my differential and i'm just wondering which one should i get for my car.

Quaife torque biasing differential vs. Kaaz clutch-type LSD. which one is better for drifting???

"The Quaife is extremely strong and durable and since the Quaife is gear operated, it has no plates or clutches that can wear out and need costly replacement" So does that mean clutch-type LSDs wear out faster???

Nismo, Cusco, Kaaz, they're all clutch types. Many if not all the pro-drifters are using clutch types. I'd bet on the clutch type to be better for that application.

Clutch-types are more harsh in engagement, while helicals are more smooth and progressive. I'd personally go with a helical; they're still great for drifting (while maybe not quite as good as a clutch-type), and much more streetable.

I would guess at the helical being better for inclement weather, since it's a more progressive type setup. If you had a clutch type and one wheel started to slip, the clutches would immediately tighten up and get the other wheel spinning quickly, and the shock would probably cause that wheel to hydroplane too. I'm not totally sure though, so don't quote me...

Clutch type differentials are best for drifting. They lock and you spin both wheels.Helical or mechanical are best for things like auto-x. They can spin at different rates and they will help you grip better.Helical would be OK for inclement weather, but they can act as an open diff,(ie if one is spinning on ice, the other doesnt engage) so they aren;t great. The best for inclement weather would probly be vlsd or clutch.
