KA24de is a alright motor except for the timing chain design. the guides suck double chain run by a single chain wtf is that? they are always smackin around and make your car sound blown up when it's not. sr is the way to go!!!!!! or rb if you can afford it.

most of the SR's you guys get are already beaten on, well past reason.then you get them and a good portion of the time simply drop them in your 240's and think you are good to go.

Then you rape a motor that has already most likely made it's way to a junkyard before finding it's way into your engine bay.

Then when they blow you blame the motor.

How many people actually take the time to refresh the motor prior to taking it to the streets or tracks?

I've owned CA18DE, CA18DET, RB20DET and SR20DET (Black top) and S14 SR20DET. I've loved all for different reasons.CA for being an extremely well built motor far ahead of it's time. Damn near indestructible.SR for the ease of gaining power out of them.RB...because they SCREAM!!!

All are awesome motors and as stated are only as good as the maintenance done to them.

Seen too many friends back in the states get motors that were garbage to begin with.

Never owned a KA and don't expect that I will, so can't compare them. But I know that the KA takes more patience to turbo, and one thing I do not have is patience...

That statement oozes with truth.

So you are saying a single chain top to bottom is better?

I just had to comment on this one. You have like zero idea what you are talking about. Those two motors share absolutely nothing.

iron block -vs- aluminum blockhalf counter crank -vs- full counter crank timing belt -vs- timing chaincam on bucket direct actuation -vs- rocker arm thingies (technical jargon)placement of the crank centerline in relation to the block skirtcylinder spacingbore and stroke ratioone tastes like M&Ms the other like jelly beansthe list goes on.NOTHING ALIKE

just, shush now.

This whole debate is so sad it makes me envy the GT-R -vs- Z06 thread, that is not as gay and played out.
