So my '03 Touring 350Z started the fun transmission problem with the 3rd & 5th gear grind. Actually I only have the 5th gear with the problem at the moment. It just is tough to get it to push into 5th gear! The car only has 63K on it. I know the warranty is out, I purchased a Platinum level Western General Extended Warranty for the car when I bought it, but even though the transmission is 100% covered...the clutch is not. Is this problem officially classified as a Transmission issue or a clutch issue? Has anybody else out in NICO world had their transmission replaced using this warranty? Just trying to get a feel on what kind of possible BS Im going to encounter when I take it into the service dept. this weekend. I dont want to get the grand jig for this . Any help or insight from you guys & gals would be so so appreciated. I need to trade the car in, and if I get this car fixed, it brings in an extra $1200 to my trade in value.

I hope your trading it in on another Z.... lol

As far as good clutches for cheap, check out ACT. Everyone i know to own one is beyond satisfied with it. Buddy of mine has an ACT in his 500+ awhp GSX and loves it, another buddy has one in his civic dx sleeper (JDM H22), and my other buddy had one in his 315 whp turbo integra. Thats probably what i will replace mine with when its time.

try getting your car appraised at your local Carmax...they might give you more money even with the transmission porblem..they have a no pressure car buying system. You walk out with an offer for your car that is good for up to 7 days.

Buy another transmission for like $1,000. replace it yourself under 2 hours. Sell back the old one on ebay for arount $300.

Problem solved.

carmax is a joke...... that place won't be around long. people will figure out that its BS not the way car buying should be.... They will offer you like 60% of actual trade in value. to get your trade in value, go to NADA, KBB, and edmunds to get a ball park range on trade in value and resale value.
