What is the reasonable mileage of the aftermarket Tokico shocks?

I use them with the Eibach springs. Lately its just been too soft and hasn't been keeping my wheels on the ground 99.9%.

I really liked the factory shocks much better as they completely rid the roll, lean and squat when I first used them... until they blew. Would brand new factory shocks + Eibachs work well?

Sure, but you need to understand the Tokico blues are 15% stiffer and cheaper than the Tokico OEM blacks.

Stiffer springs will wear shocks faster.

Since 1994 I've replaced the Tokico Blues [5 sets] every 4 years and or 60,000 miles on my Eibach equipt 90Q. The rears go first since the rear springs are stiffer and progressive under more than 2" movement whereas the front springs are a linear 12-15% stiffer.

Just another wear and tear part like tires, wheels, brakes, rubber items.

So you don't run the blacks in front anymore?

Riding on stock springs and cute little 15" factory wheels, my tokiko blues are still working well at 6 years and 120,000 miles of use. The original factory shocks felt really soft at 105,000 miles when I replaced them with these blues.

too bad the 1st gen guys cannot get the KYB SR Specials...by far the best shocks I have ever had. I tried Koni's and other KYB's before but the SR Specials rock.

I would think at 60k nearly any shock is dead. If you can get KYB's they have a lifetime warranty, not for the labor but on my 84' Z I got new rears for free after 7 years from KYB.

Nissan chose Tokico as the supplier for the G50 and KYB as the supplier for the FGY33.

Why I always say they are as different from each other as a Ford Galaxie 500 XL is from a Chevrolet Impala.

I'd prefer a softer ride but I'm using the Tokiko blues because I'm too cheap to invest in the blacks. At IOS it looks like the blacks are $188/ea and the blues (not listed) are about $80/ea.

I wasn't clear I've used Tokico blacks [oem] version twice in the intervals currently have the blues on front. Depends on when [winter or summer] I decided to change them. The Blues can be brutal on front if changed in cold weather [until it warms up and they wear in a little] but many might find this good depending on front springs and sway bar tightness.

Buying a ~~$270 ebay package for all 4 has certain advantages.

I've never thought the Blue were too harsh initially, and certainly not as bad as the OEM FGY33 standard struts nor certainly the KYB SR Special which made me wonder if I had made a mistake at first. They are fine, even cushy now in comparison.

Ive been very please with the blues. had them for a looong time. They were changed a couple of years ago, but it was just because i was able to swap them out for a new pair. All i need is a rear sway bar now.

If you don't mind a bit of a stiffer ride, i say go for it. They pair up really well with my Eibachs.

Hitachi Automotive Systems - Tokico High Performance Shock (Blue)

Just ordered a set for $289.66 -- price includes shipping.

So average cost per strut is under $73 each..

That is because KYB became the OEM supplier for the front MacPherson strut design on the Y34, FGY33 and F50.
