welp, as of around noon today it became official. the future modification of my CA has come to a stop, i will no longer be wasting away hundreds of dollars on bolt on parts and stuff that only seems to add interferance to the already troublesome motor. im only wasting my money and adding stress into my already stressfull existence, so im done ... :(

compression tests show that my rings are shot and that its useless to up the boost any more.

so i will now begin the aquasitions of : forged pistons w/good rings ,metal headgasket, new rod/crankbearings, rod treatment, crankshaft balancing. and what ever else i can do on my limited budgets.

any suggestions as to what type of gear i should use should be posted below, and maybe even estimated prices and places to order from , i want to order the pistons before the middle of next month and have the bearings orderd before the end of this month, i think im goin with clevite bearings, maybe wiseco, or ross slugs.

also MAD sci what would the total rebuild gasket kit from nissan of japan run me with out the overnight shipping lol

well guys it looks as if im out of the running starting next weekend when the motor comes out for disasembly

Jon....

Hit up boost boy and see if he has any long blocks available. That way you can boost your current motor till it pukes and work on the other motor out of the car. It will minimize down time.

Also, when the time comes. I will trade you long blocks, my KA for your CA. That way you can have 2 running car's, and I will have a project motor to tear down and rebuild. Think about it and IM me.

Later bro.

try nissan of north america first:thinker the gasket sets are the same for usdm ca18de's and jdm ca18det's...thats what I'm using for rebuilding my motor...

Good luck Jon! You'll be happy when its done for sure!

what caused the piston? failure.... weren't u runnin' rich ?a fresh stock bottom end should reliably hold 400+ hp. Some guy on the uk bbs just did it. prepped oe rods, oe pistons, all balanced. I know I'd rather concentrate on good tuning than spend money on aftermarket parts for the block.Last ca18det I bought for $100 had a bad #2 rod bearing, while all else looked perfect. Oil was jet black and thin... obviously not maintained.I recall one guy rave about the big difference in performance just changing the inlet cam only, to an hks? 256° (have to check).

pistons are all still intact, i fried the rings ... i got around 130psi on all cylinders dry tested and 170-175psi on them with a cap full of oil in the clynder. im really thinking about prepped rods, OE pistons, and what not, but im deff getting upgraded bearings for the motor.

. i actually just got a promotion this week , came straight out of the blue, but if work continues to go good im lookin at a good chunk of change to have free from now on . only prob is ill have to work 5days instead of just 4 boohoo huh

Dude, I worked 4-10's for about 2 months at a job once and I'll never do it again. I hated it. I'd rather work more days for less hours per day. It gets me all screwed up. My days have to be consistant. But good job on the promotion and keep us updated on the work. I should have my motor next friday, YEA!
