Take it all out, then after you shoehorn the motor in, put it all back. Less to worry about breaking that way.

The R33 Crossmember. I'm talking about hoses and all that. I'm bringing the motor up from the bottom.

I know what you are talking about, and what you leave in does depend on what you are doing. Since I was using mounts, I left the KA x-member, powersteering lines, powersteering reservoir etc in, and put the motor in from the top.

Since you will be switching those lines out and putting them on the R33 Xmember, so you will have to remove them.

So here is what I think you should take out.

Radiator

ac evaporator, if you aren't going to be using it. It is just easier to do when the motor is out of the car.

all power steering lines

battery

wiring harness (upper and lower) I think it is easiest to remove this with the car in the engine bay

disconnect you vacuum canister and remove it, you probably won't use it anyway (I didn't)

You will be pleasantly supprised that , it doesn't take very long to remove all this stuff.

Have fun.

Take it all out. Disconnect heater and A/C hoses at firewall, take out condenser,, radiator, radiator reservoir, cruise control actuator, fuel filter/bracket, carbon canister/bracket, PS reservoir/bracket, radiator supports.

Basically everything but the engine bay wiring harness, fuse box, brake and clutch master cylinders. Get it all out. And if you have a pressure washer.... get it clean. I wish I had.

That is how I did it, you will be much happier when it is done if you do.
