Three young boys (ages 15, 16, 17) shot a 22 year old man because they were BORED. I understand that the town they live in isn't a hot-bed of activity. It's 46 square miles with 23,431 people (in 2010) and 27% of those people live below the poverty line. However, that obviously does NOT give people the right to go around shooting random people jogging down the road.

Officers say 22-year-old Christopher Lane was shot dead in what Police Chief Dan Ford described as a thrill killing. Ford said a 17-year-old defendant told police the three teenagers were bored and shot Lane for "the fun of it."

Two of three can be tried as adults, so they can face up to life in prison. Ironically, the youngest of the three is the one that pulled the trigger. My question is this: what is a fitting punishment for them? The reporter said that one of the boys actually was laughing when they were taking his mug shot. :wtf2: If you were the judge presiding over this case and could assign them a punishment, what would you give them? Eye-for-an-eye? Hard labor? Solitary confinement? Chinese water torture?

Your thoughts?

Good god. I'm 22 years old, that guy had so much time ahead of him... They could have literally done anything else and they chose to shoot a guy. The kid that pulled the trigger should get no second chances. Not saying death row, but I'd give him life without parole.

Psychological and psychiatric analysis. Depending on the findings, either (1) imprisonment and forced medical and/or psychological rehabilitation, or (2) the death penalty/life imprisonment.

If they can be fixed, fix 'em. If they can't, f*** 'em.

It's very shocking how stupid, cold and callous those teens were. Hopefully all 3 will be tried as adults as I believe there is no death penalty for those tried as minors. Since there does not appear to be any remorse, I think the death penalty would be appropriate, after a stint in general population so they become sperm receptacles to some violent HIV & Herpes infected 350lb goons. At minimum, i think they should get life without parole.

They are products of broken households and a culture that doesn't value human life. I believe they are beyond reform and must be permanently separated from society.

Agree totally agree with Jesda and also support some of the other less legal options.

This is scary to me. I doubt anyone will be lenient on the young guy.

Prison isn't exactly thrilling, so I can't see how the psychological evidence backs the description of why they did the killing... they knew where this was ending up.

As far as the kid laughing when they did the mugshot, sounds like the little meathead is putting on a show to me... I just think they wanted attention.

Aren't there mine fields in parts of Europe and Africa that need to be cleared the old fashioned way?

While it sounds nice, I'm not fond of convict labor for the same reason I'm not fond of mandatory military service: people who are forced to do something but don't really want to be there are going to do the sh@#%iest acceptable job. Meanwhile, they must be fed, housed, clothed, and kept healthy and secure. All of that costs money that originates from the same people they'd laugh about victimizing.

The only real solution in cases like this is the death penalty. There's zero value to keeping these people alive. They are parasites. Put them to death, and do it as clinically and unceremoniously as possible. No funerals. No last requests. No last meals. These people sacrificed their claim to "human rights" when they put their petty needs before the lives of others.

While we're at it, I'd like to recommend that anyone defending their right to keep breathing my good air should volunteer to house each of these subhuman pieces of s*** in their own home for a period of one month.

Advocates aren't so starry-eyed once they become victims.
