Officers say 22-year-old Christopher Lane was shot dead in what Police Chief Dan Ford described as a thrill killing. Ford said a 17-year-old defendant told police the three teenagers were bored and shot Lane for "the fun of it."

Two of three can be tried as adults, so they can face up to life in prison. Ironically, the youngest of the three is the one that pulled the trigger. My question is this: what is a fitting punishment for them? The reporter said that one of the boys actually was laughing when they were taking his mug shot.
