This is as funny as it is political.
Three middle eastern individuals, in two cars, stop for gas outside MCB Camp Pendleton. They are overheard making terrorlst threats and asking for directions to Camp Pendleton. (Camp Pendleton is a very large USMC base, in fact, it occupies about 19 miles of prime California coast on your drive north from San Diego to LA.)

The three, who later claimed they did not know one another, take off and head to Camp Pendleton. If you've never been there, you take an off ramp from Hwy 5 and drive a half mile to a rather large guarded gate in the middle of the road. If you have proper identification, you pass, it you don't you go to a secondary where your car is searched, and your destination and purpose for visit is defined.

They were pulled to the secondary, and one car left without stopping. He was quickly apprehended.

The linked article goes into the rest of the story, but apparently they got lost on their way to Glendale CA (in Los Angeles County, about 100 miles north of the base). And, of course, they didn't know each other. They were shown the exit.
About 8 hours later, back comes one of these individuals, once again, lost on his way to Glendale. He was escorted to the Exit. This is really a confusing freeway exit, mind you, as the Freeway is clearly marked NORTH, LOS ANGELES and the exit is clearly marked CAMP PENDLETON. Tough stuff.

I'm suspecting these three stooges had something evil on their mind. Just a guess though. I wonder it this is the end of it?

Hard not to come off as stereotypical but what a weird coincidence. Wonder what the media would have done if this was three white guys.

Interesting.

This one's gonna generate all manner of bleating (from BOTH "sides"). I'm inclined to be suspicious as well - not because of their appearance, but because of the high level of coincidence involved (plus, I've driven through there often and never "accidentally" wound up on base).

The problem is, if we label them "stooges", that might benefit them. If they were indeed "scoping" out procedures, then it's in their best interests to appear as bumbling nitwits.

It's not really clear, but if they were seen together previously, and they claimed to ot know each other, that's a red flag for me. I'd also be curious about the "terroristic threats" overheard by the eyewitness - Details are lacking, and why didn't that person alert authorities then (or did they)?

Good stuff, R/T. Should make for some good discussion.

It is almost so stupid that I had to check the date to see if the report was sent out on April 1 or something. :tisk:
