The only thing i hate about my s13 is that they should have made them 6 speeds i dont like how when i go 75-80 (highway speed) it's at 3500 rpm soo basically on a highway I'll burn through a tank of gas in like 50 miles? Damn

That makes no sense. My stock KA would go like 110 miles @ those speeds on the highway and burn less than a half a tank (like 3/8 ish of a tank) At 110 miles per 3/8 of a tank, I'd have gone around 290 miles on a full tank :gotme

If you're actually getting that bad of gas milage, something is probably wrong somewhere.

Yeah. Any highway Im on I go 75-95mph and I still average 24mpg-26mpg. If you go 50 miles on a half tank then you have serious problems. My gas gauge is very inaccurate so I reset my odometer to zero to fill up and test. Its so consistent on rent week when im hurting for cash I put a flat number of gallons in and times it by 25 and have never ran out of gas.

The six-speed that Nissan made for the S15 wouldn't have made much/any difference in your highway fuel consumption anyway- it was used for closer gear ratios. Final ratio was still roughly the same (if not exactly).
Also, 50 miles on a tank would be less than 4 mpg. Are you sure on your numbers?

3500 is nothing. Its actually pretty ideal for the power a stock ka has its at the rpm rage that has power to keep the car at steady speed if it was much lower then you would actually put more load on the engine using more gas to keep the speed. Its like throwing the car in 5th while cruising at 30mph. It seems fine while going down hill or flat but if you try to speed up it trys really hard but you dont go anywhere.

Don't assume anything when it comes to your car. Assume makes an a** out of you and your car, when it breaks down. Do the research and read anything and everything related to what you want to know before you just throw out a question. I know i used to get 25-6 mpg on mine all day every day, better a few times with interstate driving (at 70-75). Test your mileage next time you go for a drive - top your tank off before you leave, and again whenever you stop xx miles down the road. Subtract the mileage and divide it by the gallons you filled in the second time and now you know EXACTLY how many mpg's you get - no assumption necessary.

Laxands i wish i could but my odometer is not accurate at all one minute driving 15 miles will read .8 the other time 15 miles could be read 50.

Ive never heard of it reading more then what it should be. Ive seen plenty of times where it will stop for a few miles or stop till you reset it. It does that some times in my car but ive never seen it go from 1 mile to 50 miles or anything like that. I have a cluster for sale that works perfectly but has no tach if you want it. You just swap your tach over its 3 Phillips screws. Sounds like you have a real problem.

I dont see why it could be a big problem just a very annoying one not being able to know mpg or anything.

I haven't read all the post just the main one.
Ive gone from where i live, Utah Salt lake city to be exact on a full tank without filling up all the way to vegas its 385 miles sure i got there almost out but that still goes to show that on a full tank you can atleast go 350 miles. nothing major is done to my KA24de just headers, exhaust and intake.

if your getting that bad of mileage then something is really wrong with your engine "/

13.9 gallons is the size of our tank supposed you gut everything and top off the tank 105% thats over 27mpg. On a stock ka. Unless you live next to the highway like 1 mile or less and you clock that right off the highway and go 60-70 the entire way and shut your engine off while coastingn down a hill pushed the fat girl out half way then started your car at the gas pump and ran out of gas im calling bs.

Im not saying your lying but... well yeah thats exactly what im saying. Your lying. 350 on a tank maybe 360 and running on fumes then coasting to the pump. Otherwise your lying. Yep pretty sure thats it. Your lying.

I was off by 2 gallons. I still claim s*** on 385 miles per tank unless like I said everything I gutted you left fatty mcgee at home and your clocking highway route only.

Thats still 25 mpg which is very possible but your talking about a full tank in a dessert with evaporation rates and lets say you have .5 gallons left thats 25 mpg on the dot. I get 28mpg sometimes not problem but your claiming a 385 mile trip that heats the fuel from the pump your talking about 200* water temp engine bay temp after an hour is over 300*

You sir are full of s***. 300-325 sure 385 your full of s***.

Are you running bicycle tires on the car? Oh you have a cold air intake have you seen what 99% of cold air intakes do to air fuel ratios without a tune?

Full exhaust ey? Thats means super flow yo?

Dude do you understand what your saying right now? Your saying you get better mpg then a prius.

A prius claims 35+ mpg yeah for the first 2 hours of a road trip

Calculate engine temp, fuel pump temp, bay temp and atmospheric temp tire width what front wnd you got? That makes a difference. What about auto or man?

Bro your just talking out your a** right now. Go home your drunk.

don't believe me dude plus if you haven't noticed i own a S14 not S13 so you were actually 4.5 gal's off, sucks you live far or i would say lets hit up Vegas. im going to be heading over to Vegas in a few weeks again so ill do it again. and if you didnt read my firsts post that got your attention i did say i barley made it. im not saying i got there and still cruised the strip without pumping gas, i rarely ever pay attention to my gauge cause you know it never really works, i always set my mileage to 0 and run my car til i hit 300 miles and it can still go for a little more in city, ill fill up the gas tank this week take a pic and run it till its completely empty and snap a pic of the miles again just to see how much i get in the city. i dont have to lie or cheat so i wont fill her up til i really need to. then if you want when i fill her up ill record it and post it here so you can see how much gallons S14's get. instead of talking and seeing website facts ill just do it. maybe cause im at a higher altitude it might change. but not to sure. ill keep it posted.

I've owned 240s for the past 11 years, and have put at least 300k miles combined on them if not quite a bit more, lol. Some I have gotten horrible gas mileage, some pretty stellar. My current 96 KA, I get 29-31 mpg cruising at 75mph or so (I mostly drive on the freeway). My S13's KA I was typically around 25-27mpg, but it had a tone of miles on it, so it was pretty tired. I've also gotten 15 mpg on cars that had issues that were eventually fixed (large vacuum leak & leaking injector o-rings being a couple different scenarios I have dealt with).

BTW, Fuel capacities are as follows (Pulled from factory service manuals)

89-94 S13: 15-7/8 US Gallons
95-98 S14: 17-1/8 US Gallons (Which would explain why I have gotten close to 500 miles on one tank!)

Everyone has their own tastes. Don't let a couple people scare you off. Every "scene" I have been apart of over the years has a few people who are abrasive and who don't know how to accept those who don't conform to their point of view. You do what you like, it's your project, if other people don't like it, then they can just go get bent, ha ha. On the same token, in the world of the interwebs, you have to learn to take what others' say with a grain of salt. People will run their mouths, and if basic logic or facts don't shut them up, then just move on to another thread, ha ha :D You'll like NICO a lot more than the majority of other forums out there, there are a lot of good people here; I encourage you to stay!

Bro its your car. I love ka's ill never own an sr.
go on ebay and buy a new real leather boot for 20$ I just got mine in the mail wed. My car is pretty stock
-tein springs w/kyb shocks struts
-enkei rp01 16x8
-b&m short shifter
-obx header w/ stock exhaust till I get the isis mbse type e that looks stock and is quiet.

No one is bashing you were bashing people that ruin the 240s for other people
I wouldnt wven call it rice I would call it tactless trashy and tasteless

Its your car dont make it how other people want it make it how you want it. Everyone has opinions choose to be the odd one out in the ways people frown on and be ready to hear the opinions.

Dont put an illest sticker on your car tho thats stupid ;) people with those stickers deserve for there motor to blow and give up on the project for someone with more maturity. s*** like that is just childish in my eyes and probably in alot of other peoples but again its your car and f*** whoever doesnt like it right? :gotme
