The Steering and Engine seem more refined in the 2010 EX35 than in my 2008 EX35

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi All,

I test drove the 2010 EX35 today and the steering feels better- less pull to the right- less jostling from side to side when going over bumps in the road

Also, there seems to be less of a lag when hitting the gas.

Is it just me or have others noticed a difference in these aspects of the 2010 model when compared to the 2008 model?

Note: There were other differences not related the model year. My 2008 is fully loaded with 18" wheels, whereas the 2010 model only had the Bose/Nav. package and mudflaps.

Thanks

From what I've read it's possible the difference in the ride I experienced in the 2010 model could mainly, if not entirely, be due to the 17" tires vs. the 18" tires on my 2008.

I just want feedback from others if this is their experience as well.

As to the engine having less lag (i.e. less of a pause before accelerating after hitting the gas), I not sure if this is a design change (i.e. making the response more similar to the way it is set in the G37), or something else.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

ya...I am not sure the 2010 is better than the 2008, since I don't have an 2008 to test it. But i did test drive a used 2008 for like about 2 to 10 mins. maybe I didn't pay close enough attention, cus I didn't notice any major deifference between the 2, as in engine and handeling wise.maybe u had the 2008 for a while, the performance die down a lil?not sure...just wondering...

From the time I bought the car I had noticed that there was a short lag when I hit the gas. Part of the problem could be that I should be hitting the gas more slowly (i.e. was I just being a lead foot), but I wasn't sure.

From what I understood, although I never drove a G35, the G series cars were calibrated differently in order to emphasize performance more than what was on the ex35. And when I drove the 2010 and it seemed more responsive, I was curious if anyone knew if there had been a change.

I believe there's some kind of short period learning feature to the throttle or transmission (ECU, I think), that can result with that kind of lag if the car for some reason learns to do it from your driving.

I also think you can go to service and ask them to reset this learning so that it starts learning again. As to how to make it not learn to do that again, I have no clue.
