hey. well tonight i started to pull the motor, just so i can rebuild and get everything i want done over the winter. Hopefully i can get it all done by this next summer. Enjoy. and give any advice you might have.

Start of the motor pull.

Rad, out.

got some friends to help me out.

got it almost out.

started at 6:30 and finished the day at 9. Not to bad i'd say for a school bag full of tools and three 18 year olds. all thats left is to undo the downpipe, and the transmission mount. should pull right out!

sorry if the pictures weren't really all that good they were taken with the camera phone.

What about just dropping the subframe / lifting the car?

Why are you pulling your motor?

l0nestar - Stay tuned. This will be some interesting $hit to watch.

rb250detsx - I'd recommend dropping the subframe as well. You'll never get the inclination you need to pull the motor out from the top with some chains. Trust people who have done it several times before. Do yourselves a favor and buy a load-leveler.

uh.. I just used the factory lift points on the head and fabbed up a pair of bolt-on receivers for my leveler. But you know.. to each his own.

Darius,I think I'll put it in my 'watched topics' list.. :-D

I tried to pull my entire swap from the top due to everyone saying u couldnt and bc when i did my swap i did it from the bottom.....

and umm yea... it didnt wrk to well.... had to disconnect the transmission from the motor bc i couldnt get enough angle.

But now Im in the process of cutting my radiator support and adding bolt on brackets to make pullin the swap out an hour long deal..... plus the car is a drift car only... sees very little time on the street so the removable rad. support is gonna be a nice touch..... and all structural integrity is still there.....ill post up pics this weekend...

I've put the rb20 in from the top when I first installed her, pulled from the top after she popped. 2nd motor in from the top and back out after we found out it had a blown headgasket. 3rd motor in from the top and back out after it needed a new TOB and back in. Takes about half an hour by now.

yeah, it wasn't too bad... not a hard time at all. the only problem was the shifter kept hitting the underneath of the car. . . not a big deal though.

Yeah i doubt i'll be comming to that with it.. it should be done from what i want this year by late may early june. but then again i've said the same thing before. cant always make a deadline.
