Started my 2006 Pathfinder up this morning to the most horrid of sounds -- the knocking and banging and chatter of a thousand samurai swords tearing up my engine. Killed the engine after letting it run for a minute... then fired it up a few hours later and let it run for another few minutes but had to shut it off after it got louder and louder until I could bear it no more. This is the sound of unmistakable catastrophic engine failure (rods, lifter, valves, whatever -- it's bad). Last time the car was driven was last night... and without issues or noises. Then this morning... BAM!

I don't even want to spend the money having it diagnosed -- I just want a new engine installed (wrecking yard pull or rebuilt). So my question is... does anyone know of a great Nissan mechanic in the Seattle area (Eastside preferably) that has worked on a lot of these VQ40DE replacements/swaps? With great track record and great warranty?

Also wondering what I might expect to pay in parts and labor for this job. Or... what I might expect for the car if I sold it as is (transmission was replaced a few years ago along with the coolant/trans issue repaired). Thanks.

Sorry to hear that, that really sucks!!

I always recommend Morgan Motors in Issaquah to people around here. I'm certain they can handle bigger jobs like an engine swap, and I've seen and heard that they do good and honest work. They're a stone's throw below the 90 on the 900.

No answers to your other questions, sorry. Good luck!
