Finally! Are the timing components OEM Nissan or another brand?

Is it optional to order the kit w/o the Felpro head gasket or is everything set in stone?

The timing components are OEM Nissan Parts! The fel-pro gasket is included is included in the fel-pro gasket set as we order it, I wont be able to separate it. Is there a better head gasket that is offered for the SOHC? I can't seem to find any aftermarket HG's but I would like to offer one.

Thanks!Chris

I planned on using the cometic head gasket from the DOHC KA and trimming off the the front timing cover portion and using an OEM section I have lying around. I know the Cometic unit doesnt come as a complete gasket set though, just as a headgasket by itself but the last time I priced the Fel-Pro SOHC gasket set it was $84 at the local Advance auto parts and a new cometic unit runs $80 for the 90mm bore MLS unit from this site -> Link so would it be feasable as an exchange? Im not sure what the retail on either of those parts would be for you.

It's good to know the timing components are OEM Nissan units though. I didn't notice an oil pump on the list, is that included or not? You can use one from an 81-83 L28ET (280z turbo) as a bolt on upgrade as it moves slightly more volume (good if you have an oil cooler and turbo demanding more flow)

Hey Chris Im sorry this is off topic but would you guys by any chance have a mani with a T3 flange and a 35mm wastegate flange? some where in the shop for a really reasonable price that you could sell me brother? If so I can pick it up asap. The one I ordered is on back order again for another 3 weeks and I can not wait that long. SOHC of course.

Thanks man.

I do not have an manifold at all right now, we are currently working on one for a DOHC motor. We will take a look at the SOHC motor shortly after we are done with the other. sorry!

I meant the Cometic head gasket instead of the entire felpro kit since the two are roughly the same price. Sorry if I worded that poorly.

I'll tell you what I can do for you. I will match the price from the Import performance parts place. I wouldnt want you to have to order from them...

Honestly by the time you buy all the other gaskets separately it will cost more than getting this kit and buying the cometic.

Thanks for the reply Chris, I'm hoping to get one of my fastbacks sold soon to fund this I'll keep in touch with you and hopefully we can make this happen soon.

you're telling me a valve cover gasket, throttle body gasket, intake and exhaust manifold gaskets, valve stem seals, and coolant inlet flange gasket come to 80$?

The bulk of the cost of the felpro set IS the headgasket.

here's what the Felpro set comes with, those items are NOT included. Felpro DOES sell a cork oil pan gasket but there isn't one for the timing cover that I am aware of, I had to make my own using McKanica silver.

I have rebuilt 2 SOHC KAs so far with Felpro kits. They are definitely good quality for a daily driver and I will use them again I just am going to use a cometic HG for my strip car, it's all a matter of personal preference.

Thats cool. They do sell a timing cover set its more or less rtv and the two seals. I thought he was talking about the rebuild kit not the hs9646pt.

Chris,

Is the DE oil pump kit OEM nissan or an aftermarket supplier?

Also, FYI the SOHC fwd u12's use this oil pump in the timing case.

you're comparing apples to oranges. Fel Pro gasket SET not the head gasket by itself...
