ok i just finished swapping a new ( well used) SOHC into his hatch. we were cranking it over fine and one of the battery terminals came loose and sparked. after that the starter just clicks once and then nothing. try it again and the same thing happens. GOOD BATT and ALT. so its not that. i know my way around a 240, but dam this is perplexing.

just one click then nothin.

we swap starters from the old car and still have the same result.

hammer trick, still nothin.

So what is it? bad ground, blown fuse, blown relay?

car is a manual btw.

please help we're on a limited time frame and we need to get it runnin. any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks zach.

well the clutch isnt hooked back up and ther isnt any fluid is the system. i would imagine it would crank and start though if hooked up.

im leaning towards the relay but im still gonna recheck it all. it was cranking fine till the look terminal sparked.

Check the relay, fuse. I had a similar problem with mine. Poped the fuse after the first click and lost power to everything. Tracked down a burnt up wire later and problem solved.

No idea but it was wired into the IGN. Who ever wired the car did a piss poor job and im slowly fixing it. I just cut it so it would stop shorting out and poped in a new fuse and it started up fine. Its been about 2 months now and hasn't given me another problem.

Check all the simplest stuff first. Make sure you have good contacts on your battery, good ground, check your fuses, then relays, etc. oh yeah, not to thread jack or anything but do you have a passenger side corner light for sale from an s14 zenki?

cool thanks for the help. ill check that too. this is why i loved my 95. the least amount of wires of any year. simplicity is god.

my buddy bought a parts 240 for 200 bucks and it has all the relays and fuses in it, so ill replace the inhibitor relay and go from there. it would be nice if this fixes it because when it was cranking it was firing. turns out the fuel lines were backwards. we fixed that and now the starter crap. so im hopin i get it fixed.

if you have any other ideas let me know!

srpowered240sx is a long-time member in good standing and he's helped people who were laughed at by the rest of NICO. If you're gonna throw down, chump, try aiming at someone who actually deserves it. Otherwise YOU end up looking like the douchenozzle. And considering it looks like you are here primarily for the Classifieds, you might not want to be a jerk if you can possibly avoid it. And he *did* try to help. Just because you don't like the experienced advice he gave, don't go p*ssing into the wind.

you think beneficial info is checking fuses and connections? my 5 year old cousin would know that. and im not thyting to be a "chump" or a "douschenozzle" i just dont like it when i see smart comments like well its a 18 year old radiator of course its gonna blow up. saying stuff like thats just gonna piss the person off more. if hes having trouble hes gonna be mad and seeing stuff like that will jsut make it worse. im sorry if i offened you but i see alot of "douchenozzles" on here for omly being a member for like 2 months and i think its dumb

dont like it? gtfo. i say what i want, im not gonna patronize someone and say "awww, man, too bad, anything we can do to make you feel better?" we are here to help each other, joke with each other, and generally share knowledge. i have yet to see you make a helpful statement to anyone, so again i say, if you dont like it here after being a member for two whole months, then gtfo.

Just because the advise is simple and something most people would think of DOES NOT MAKE IT BAD ADVISE. What srpowered240sx originaly said was right on the money. They are rushing the job and need to slow down and check the obvious things FIRST. If they come back and say we checked all the fuses and relays and grounds etc then telling them to check that would not be proper.

Their reply to his original advise was that they were going to check fuses etc.

By the way, leedrift I saw NO advise from you on what the problem might be. If you have better advise, speak up, otherwise just keep lurking on the sidelines and stay out of the way of those of use that are trying to REALLY help those that need it.

--- ] --- ]steping down from my soap box and returning you to your normal thread.

so what your saying is im a fuktard for telling you that you guys were rushing, even though i was right and you had a connection that was put together hastily. hmmmmm, sounds like i dont know what im talking about. you guys have hoses backwards, connections not plugged in properly, and you are trying to start a motor that was not even complete, and im the fuktard? ill make sure not to suggest anything the next time you morons have a problem.
