There is a sensor in the black factory airbox, right after the filter. What is it?

I was thinking temperature?

Is it important/vital?

THe reason why I ask is I'm not sure if it's related to my recent start of rattling.

Thanks a bunch.

i think that's the ait or something or other you are talking about. Not important, just for ecu diagnostics, etc, but won't cause weird things in ur car.

Thanks for the replies.

My wires on them are ripped. I don't need to replace it?? The dealer wanted 80 bucks so I said I'll wait.

It has no real purpose?

search newb... :p

Found searching for ait, then "intake temp sensor", in regards to disconnecting the sensor:

Intake Air Temp sensor JWT intake
bj180sx wrote:just unplug it and put it in the glove box. That sensor is for diagnostic purposes only. Your check engine light should not come on. I have the JWt intake too and have no problems without the sensor.

not needed. Lots of people who get an aftermarket intake just move it out of the way and let it dangle.
