The self-healing paint = problem?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I got my black EX about 7 month agoNever really wax it but always wash it by myself or the courtesy wash at dealership when I brought in for service. This morning when I was washing my car, I noticed few spots of the clear coat on my roof are turning dull??!! There are “very fine” scratches on my fender and it’s been 2 weeks sitting outside in 90+ degree weather and today the “very fine” scratches are still there! I think this whole self healing paint is just a BS!

Anyone else have the dull spots?BTW, my car is always garaged, I park it outside just because I was hoping the self healing paint will heal and its proven that is not working at all!

well first things first, u NEVER let them courtesy wash ur car....if u care that much about fine scratches.....sorry, but the truth is the ppl who wash ur car at the dealer....is no different from the ppl who do it at the $5 car wash. if u hand wash urself often, just keep it that way

the self healing paint i have yet to hear any real stories on it actually working tbh

claybar it and just call it a day i think

What do you mean by... "I think" ?

So have you Clayed this type of Paint ?

As for the Courtesy Wash... check out this Video >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZjWkB_q2lE

They say the Courtesy Wash/Drive-thru was the easiest on the Paint.

I've used clay bar on my EX-35 three times in just less than 2 years. And that's how many times I've waxed it too. I always clay before polishing and waxing. I treat the EX-35 paint the same way I've treated the paint on every other car I've owned and the EX-35 still looks fantastic!

(Except for those little rock nicks from flying debris on the highway. )
