There are literally 100s of thousands of posts, and thousands of threads in the NICO database about nearly every symptom or problem Q45 owners have ever encountered. The trick is finding them. Our Search function seems cumbersome at first, but it really works very well if you know how to get the most out of it.

1) Locate the large red flashing button at the top of the screen that says "search" on it. So far, so good.

2) Choose one or two search terms. Try not to use words that might be in every post. Look for the one or two words that you're reasonably sure will be in the thread you're looking for. Try not to be too specific - we may have used a different term in our old posts. As you look at threads you'll find better search terms.

3) Check "Post Bodies" first. You want to read Posts, not Titles. Only check "Topic Titles" if you didn't find what you wanted in Post Bodies. Checking Topic Titles will get you threads with your terms in the Title - not many.

4) Choose a Forum. Most of the posts will either be in Q45 Forum or Infiniti Online Mechanic, but the oldest threads are in Infiniti General. That's 3 forums to search each time.

5) First check "Archived Content" and then "Recent Content".

That will be 6 searches for every set of search terms - you'll find everything in the database with your terms in the thread. It sounds more complicated than it is. I usually find what I'm looking for in a few minutes.

If you need help just make a post about it, and some veteran NICO member will help point you in the right direction.

We already have a sticky written up, but I thought I'd offer this one. Feel free to add suggestions.

Is the sticky Rex's tutorial?

It should be linked Prominently from the opening search page.

There are 4 forums to search.

Q45, Infiniti Genenral, IOM, and VH/Vk forum for engine discussion and modifications.

Another thing that can help is to Google what you're looking for. 9 times out of 10, any Q45 questions point to the NICO board and the most relevant thread.

I find the Goolgle search within NICOclub does not work well, but I have read a lot of the posts and I kind of know where to look.

I should have been clearer. I meant Google proper. I type whatever question/search term in my Google bar at the top of my browser and then it directs me to a relevant listing of topics. Most of them are from NICO.

You can also use Google advanced search to search only within the NICO site.

There should be a correction to my instructions. All archived posts have been moved to recent to expose them to Google, so there's no longer any need to search archived posts. Unfortunately, many of the links got lost - they don't show up in recent. Using Google within NICO should solve that problem.
